I went on a long (especially for little legs) walk with my gorgeous girl today, well one of my gorgeous girls…that is to say the gorgeous girl who is my daughter rather than the one who is my wife.
Is was basically a nice mile or so walk/shoulder-carry along the canal before a steep, steep incline up a long since disused rail line with lots of history that I don’t really know anything about.
We ended up here.

Which is the same place as featured with the same little girl (but in her pushchair) in my ‘introducing’ post (about a new superhero).

Also at the top… 180° from the nice view was this old engine house that was used to pull the trains up the hill/mountain in the past. It still looks solid but pretty beat up, bits of graffiti here and there and the odd brick falling out.
As you can see though, the main girder could still hold quite a substantial weight! 10 chin-ups managed as a little exercise bonus.

I then ran back down the hill with backpack on and with a small girl on my shoulders for a half a mile, in 9:34

Now at this point sweating buckets, I dropped into a tiny shop so the little lady and I could enjoy an ice-lolly on our still fairly substantial walk back to the car.

Lived it.

I meant to write ‘loved it’ just then, but I missed. I lived it as well… I lived it and loved it today.

🙂

  3. What lovely comments, thank you.

(Although I rarely post about the days that I’m short-tempered and grumpy)

I bet your little one lived it and loved it too. Also…an iced lolly! Sounds like a perfect ending to a great day. 🙂
