Running out of time

It’s the evening of June 11th, the time has ticked past 22:00 and no Juneathon activity has been completed.

My only saving grace is that I have been saving up the most recent MarathonTalk podcast for a run such as this. I try not to think about it too much as I head out into the dark.

Ten minutes in and my heels are hurting. They never hurt. Why do they hurt? 😦

I do the only sensible thing, the thing that we develop over time, but the skill that, as runners we all inherently possess but perfect as time goes on… I ignore it and hope it goes away.

To my relief, after a further 5 minutes…it does. Woohoo! Just call me doctor NMOAR. Come to me with all your running ailments*.

*please don’t!

I end up running for an hour, fascinated by the discussion on the podcast about drugs and doping and allegations in the media that I won’t go into here.

I have a bath when I get home and generally go to bed far too late, but fell pleased I did a decent run.

That was last night.

Today (12 th June), I played a couple of sets of tennis tennis (again), singles on this occasion and this time came back from 5-0 down to eventually win 7-6 on the tie break. Also winning the next set 6-1. Go figure.

Edit: here’s my route (as recorded by runkeeper so as not to totally mess up my Strava stats)

I also went for a little outdoor gym workout…
Horizontal leg pull-ups
Hanging upside down looking constipated…
…a bit more of the constipated upside-down-ness…

(Gravity is not my friend)

And then… Holding myself out sideways from a vertical pole…

Well… Sort of sideways… It is quite tricky you know!…

…and didn’t involve jumping or a timer function or anything like that… No. Not at all. :-/

So… parkrun tomorrow, then. Maybe.

  1. Helen says:

I wish I could still hang upside down!

    Alas, I am too scared.

Can still cartwheel though. Suppose I should get some video evidence.

  2. running-along-behind-puffing says:

Was your little girl asking “Why are you hanging upside down Daddy?” although by photo 2 she appears to be leaving you to it.

  3. How did I not know MarathonTalk was a thing?!? Just found what I’ll be listening to on my next run. 🙂

  4. abradypus says:

    Dear Dr NMOAR

My knee hurts. What should I do?

    Yours hopefully
